About the Artist

A Journey of Art, Love and Remembrance

Precious Wettach in her studio

Precious Wettach is a contemporary painter working from a sunlit studio in the Hudson Valley. Her work explores the quiet space between what is seen and what is felt.

Trained in classical oil technique and drawn to the slow rhythms of traditional craft, Precious builds her paintings layer by patient layer — sometimes returning to a single canvas across months or even years until it tells the story it was meant to tell.

Each piece begins with observation: a particular slant of afternoon light, a colour that lingers in memory, a moment that asks to be held a little longer. From there the work becomes a conversation between intention and accident, between what the artist plans and what the paint insists upon.

Her originals find homes with collectors, designers, and quiet rooms across the country. Limited fine art prints make the same care available at a more approachable scale.

In the Studio

Process is everything.

The studio is a quiet, north-facing room with high windows and very little furniture. Music rarely plays. Mornings start with coffee and the same ritual: a slow look at yesterday's work before any new mark is made.

Materials are chosen with care — Belgian linen stretched by hand, oil paints ground in small batches, brushes that have been worked in for years. Nothing is rushed and nothing is wasted.

    Observe

Sketches and colour studies, sometimes for weeks before any paint touches canvas.

  • 02

    Layer

Underpainting, glaze, opaque pass — paintings build slowly across many sittings.

  • 03

    Listen

The work tells you when it's done. The hardest part is knowing when to stop.

I'm not trying to capture what something looks like — I'm trying to remember what it felt like to be there.
